Telekinesis: pseudoscience or a real psychic ability?

We all remember Luke Skywalker trying to move objects with the power of his mind. Now, does this psychic ability really exist? We analyze it.

Telekinesis or psychokinesis defines a supposed psychic ability by which the human being could influence, alter and move physical objects through the mind. Science-fiction? Pseudoscience and superstition, as the beloved Carl Sagan would say? Possibly.

Now, beyond the fact that this topic inevitably brings us back to cinematographic scenes such as Star Wars and the Jedi, to the character of Carrie White from Stephen King's novel, or to the character of Eleven in Stranger Things, there is an important detail that we must consider.

This topic began to attract the attention of scientists throughout the Cold War. More than thirty years of the most varied investigations in which no evidence could be found that the mind has power over matter. However, today, an interesting possibility opens up.

With the development of so-called neurotechnologies such as Neuralink, figures such as Elon Musk show us that, shortly, the human being will be able to interact with different devices through the mind ... and an interface. As Arthur C. Clark once said, sometimes magic is just science that we haven't fully understood yet...

Telekinesis, what do we know so far?

Telekinesis was first coined in 1914, but it was not until 1934 that the parapsychologist JB Rhine began to investigate this phenomenon on an experimental level. Unfortunately, and to this day, it has not been possible to demonstrate that the human being is capable of mentally influencing external objects or events without the use of physical energy.

The truth is that over time the phenomenon of telekinesis or psychogenesis has aroused a lot of interest. However, the greatest boom in research around this topic emerged especially during the Cold War. Thus, the National Academy of Science, Engineering, and Medicine carried out the most remarkable research in the 1980s at the request of the United States Army Research Institute.

The conclusions they reached are the same ones that are maintained today by the experts. We analyze them.

Why is telekinesis not a sustainable or valid psychic ability?

One of the figures who has currently investigated the phenomenon of telekinesis the most is the British physicist John G. Taylor. According to him, at present, there is no physical mechanism that makes psychokinesis possible for the following reasons:

To move objects with the mind would require a highly powerful new form of energy. It would be a kind of "fifth force", one capable of overcoming the electromagnetic forces that hold atoms together.

Telekinesis goes against established laws of physics such as the second law of thermodynamics, conservation of momentum, or the inverse square law.

Girl with books flying due to telekinesis

The Curious Case of Nina Kulagina

Nina Kulagina was one of the best-known and most studied figures in the field of telekinesis. She was born in Russia in 1926, at the age of 14 she entered the Red Army and during World War II she was part of the tank regiment. It was during the postwar period when she was already a housewife, she began to notice something out of the ordinary...

Nina moved objects without touching them. Soon, she began to be studied by a committee of Soviet experts, who subjected her to endless tests and experiments. Her case of her is one of the best known during the Cold War period, there are even curious black and white recordings in which she could be seen separating the yolks from the whites in eggs submerged in water and moving matches with the mind.

As she herself explained, this faculty appeared with more intensity when she was angry. After these experiences, she also stated that she was exhausted and experienced pain in her spine and eyes... Now, finally (and as she stated) she ended up losing this ability due to storms, whose electrical phenomena reduced that (apparently extraordinary ability ).

Now… was Nina Kulagina really a person with telekinetic powers? It is suspected that it was the Soviet Union itself that popularized and manipulated the skills of women with clear propaganda purposes ...

Telekinesis will be possible in the future (but through other mechanisms)

If we say at this very moment that telekinesis will be a reality in the near future, many will question it. How not to do it if we have been demonstrating for decades that such a capacity is unlikely and defies known physics?

Well, very recently Elon Musk introduced us to his company Neuralink, an organization focused on nothing more and nothing less than developing technology that can create bridges between the brain and machines. With what purpose? The main one, the medical one: treating blindness, movement problems, neurodegenerative diseases...

Now, the goal is to go further and, of course, challenge many of the things we take for granted. One of them could be to create autonomous cars that we can drive with our minds. This form of telepathy will be mediated by small interfaces that will enable communication between us and the car's computer.

Apparently, the psychic and biological universe lacked only the alliance of technology to make something that human beings have been dreaming of for decades come true...

Remove tree stump? These are the best methods

When you have a tree removed from your yard or from your property, a stump is left behind. There are several ways to remove a stump. Of course, this also entails costs. On this page, we explain the best way to remove the tree stump and what you should not do. It also explains what costs you should consider when you are going to remove the tree stump.

Methods to remove a tree stump

The stump of the removed tree or shrub can be removed in a number of ways. There are only two ways that really work, excavate or remove with a stump grinder. However, we strongly advise against excavating.

excavate

When you want to excavate a stump, you will have to dig around the entire stump grinding. You will also need to dig out and loosen all the roots. In many cases, you will also have to dig under the stump to remove the taproot. This is a process that can take you several days. If you have been able to get the stump loose, you will have to remove it from the ground and dispose of it. This leaves a crater in your garden.

stump grinder

Another way is to use a stump grinder. A stump grinder has a wheel with chisels that shreds the stump. When a stump grinder is used, there is no need to dig around the stump, you have nothing to drain and you do not have a crater left. The remaining pulp will mix with the soil during removal after which it will digest.

When you want to use a stump grinder, you have two options. You can rent a stump grinder and remove the stump yourself, or you can hire a professional and have the stump expertly removed.

When you rent a stump grinder, you get a handheld grinder for rent. These are machines that are much slower than our professional stump grinder. In addition, a handheld router takes a lot of effort and you can experience a kickback of the router by hitting a hard part in the stump.

Another major drawback is the milling depth. Hand mills only work up to 20cm below ground level. When grass is sown over this, a spot will arise in the grass due to the faster drying of the soil. Even when stones/tiles are going to be laid, this is not deep enough. Part of the stump is still in the ground. When the stump starts to rot, the ground will sink, and with it your stones/tiles. A professional stump grinder as shown above is able to remove the stump up to 50cm below ground level. This removes the entire stump.

Cost

A stump grinder naturally entails costs. Renting a stump grinder is often more expensive than the stated rental price. The price is often exclusive of VAT, mandatory insurance, chisel sharpening costs, fuel costs, etc.

We bet on the best prices that compete with rental prices. We base our price on the number of stumps, the diameter, the location of the stumps, etc. It is therefore impossible to specify an amount here. If you want to know what it costs to remove tree stumps from you, you can request a quote from us, this can be done via our website or simply via WhatsApp. We do not charge call-out costs and there are no hidden costs.

Ways not to remove a tree stump

Online you can find a lot of information on how to remove a stump from your garden or from your property. However, there are a lot of options here that simply do not work and are sometimes harmful to your health and nature.

Chemical

According to many, a stump can be removed chemically, for example with the herbicide Roundup. Roundup works because the plant absorbs the agent, after which the metabolic pathway in the plant is blocked. This will not contribute to the accelerated rotting of your stump.

Other people claim that a hole has to be drilled in the stump where the baby powder is put in and nature allows the stump to disappear. Resources such as petrol, hydrochloric acid, diesel, and table salt would also help. Let's be clear about it, these resources don't help!

In addition to the ineffectiveness of the above agents, these chemicals are also bad for your health and the environment.

Burning out

Another so-called way is burning out the stump. Holes are drilled in the stump and filled with petrol or diesel. The stump is then set on fire.

Over the years we have removed one or more stump(s) from various customers where they have tried to burn the stump. All customers had the same story. They had to use an enormous amount of diesel or petrol and there was almost no result, the tree stump did not burn away. The nearby thick roots were also completely intact. So it only resulted in environmental pollution and annoyance.

rot away

Another way is to let the stump rot away naturally. According to some, this could be accelerated by making cuts in the stump with a chainsaw or reciprocating saw. This is a process that will take a very long time. After 10 years, the stump may still be there.

STEP-BY-STEP ELABORATION

1. Wash the sticky rice under running water in a fine strainer until it runs clear.

2. Let the rice soak well covered in water for at least 4 hours.

3. Prepare the steamed rice as follows:

4. Prepare a pot with water and bring it to a boil, place the steamer on top and prepare the base with paper napkins or a muslin.

5. Place the rice on top trying to stretch it into a layer. Cover with the lid and cook over high heat for about 15 minutes. Until it's shiny and transparent.

6. While the rice is cooking, prepare the coconut cream

7. Divide the coconut cream and reserve into two bowls (one with ¾ of the cream, one with the remaining ¼)

8. Sweet cream: Combine ¾ of coconut cream with the sugar in a saucepan over low heat until the sugar dissolves. Reservation.

9. Salted cream: In a clean saucepan, put the ¼ of coconut cream, add the salt and the cornstarch dissolved in a little water and cook until it thickens (5 min)

10. In a bowl add the hot rice and the sweet coconut cream, mix until the rice has absorbed all the cream well and the possible balls have been dissolved. Cover and let it rest for 20 minutes.

11. After 20 minutes, stir again

12. Cut the mango into thin slices and reserve

13. Serve the rice in portions with a few slices of mango and a drizzle of the salty coconut sauce.

NOTES

If you don't have a steamer you can do it by boiling it, although it won't be the same. To boil it, put the rice in a pot and add 1 and a half glasses of water. Do not stir the rice during cooking to avoid releasing a lot of starch and being a porridge.

If you can't get glutinous rice, I recommend using round sushi rice or normal round rice, cooking it in a saucepan with just enough water and without stirring.

What's the difference between already, yet, and ever?

The words already, yet, and ever are most often translated as already. This ends up leaving many English students confused about when to use each one. So, in an attempt to resolve this, in this tip, I will talk – or try to talk – about the difference between already, yet, and ever in the sense of already.

To make it easier, let's look at the use of each word separately.

ALREADY

Perhaps the simplest word to understand and learn to use. After all, just read examples with her to see that there are no secrets:

He's only 24, but he's already achieved worldwide fame. (He is only 24 years old, but he has already achieved world fame.)

She had already left by the time we got there. (She had already left when we got there.)

I think we've already met. (I think we already know each other.)

Is it 10 o'clock already? (Is it 10 o'clock already?)

Is the doctor already in his office? (Is the doctor already in the office?)

We already know. (We already know.)

I've already had lunch. (I've already had lunch.)

YET

The word yet in the sense of already is usually used at the end of sentences. Remember that yet in the sense of is only possible in interrogative sentences:

Have you finished yet? (Have you finished?)

Have you had lunch yet? (Have you had lunch?)

Has the bus arrived yet? (Has the bus arrived yet?)

Have you finished the book yet? (Have you finished the book?)

Has the bride arrived yet? (Has the bride arrived?)

As you can see, in this case yet is always present in a question in Present Perfect. If you want to learn the Present Perfect in a very uncomplicated way, click here and discover the ebook Present Perfect: Uncovering the Secrets. You may also be interested to learn about English irregular verbs

ALREADY or YET?

But what is the difference between already and yet? That is, when should we say the sentences below:

Have you had lunch yet?

Have you already had lunch?

Well then! Seeing written like this, the difference does not exist. But when we go to spoken English, then the difference is observed in the context and intonation of the voice.

When we ask the question already, the idea is to show surprise that an action happened earlier than expected. When we speak we put the emphasis on already: “ Have you ALREADY had lunch? “. In the question with yet, the idea is just to know if this fact has already happened. When using yet, we don't show surprise.

To make things easier, let's imagine two contexts.

1. It's 11:00 am and you meet your friend Fábio. You start a conversation with him and invite him to lunch with you later. Fábio then says that he already had lunch. You are surprised by this. It's not even noon yet. Soon, you with that face of “Dude! Like this? I huh!” will say the following in English:

Wow! Have you already had lunch? Gee! Why so early!? (Damn! Have you had lunch? Damn! Why so early?)

2. Now imagine it's 12:30 and you meet Fabio on the street. You enjoy the moment and want to invite him to lunch. But, you don't know if he already had lunch or not. Do you want to know? So, in that case, in English, you'll want to ask “What's up? Have you had lunch?”, which in English will be:

So, have you had lunch yet? In case you haven't, we could have lunch together. What do you say? (So, have you had lunch? If not, we can have lunch together. What do you say?)

Did you notice the difference in contexts? Hope so! After all, the difference between using already and yet will depend exclusively on the context. The already is used to demonstrate surprise that the action has already taken place; the yet appears just to look for information about the fact.

EVER

The word ever is only used in the sense of already also in questions with the Present Perfect. In this case, the idea is expressed is that of “sometime in my life”, “someday in my life”. See the examples:

Have you ever met a famous person? (Have you ever met a famous person?)

Have you ever ridden a horse? (Have you ever ridden a horse?)

Has he ever done that before? (Has he done this before?)

Have they ever flown a plane? (Have they ever flown a plane?)

Remember that ever is used to emphasize the idea of a lifetime.

CONCLUSION

English Language Usage GrammarSee that the key to learning how to use these words is in context. Or rather, using the English language. It's not about learning meaningless grammatical rules. It's just a matter of observing language use in real life.

That's how I treat the grammar of English in the book Grammar for the Use of the English Language, without rules and without complications. With it, you can learn English grammar as it is actually used in everyday life or as a native speaker of the language actually learns it.

And that's all I have to say about using already, yet and ever. I hope it was very easy to understand. Anything, leave a comment below! To the next!

Tips to have a safe date at a Love Hotel

Please your desire and enjoy your companion safely. We tell you what you should take into account.

Summer is a season in which romance flows and in which super hot and sensual intimate encounters are craved. Love is in the air, they would say ... however the pandemic makes none of this happens in a "normal" way. And that the dates we had before were forgotten.

In fact, virtual dating options have expanded, and dating apps like Tinder and Bumble have noted that the length of their users' conversations and the number of messages have increased since lockdown guidelines went into effect. But, you need to go out and have passion even a little bit, right?

If you identify with what you are reading, and you and your sexual partner are sure that you do not have any symptoms or exposures that could make contagion probable, having sex in a Love Hotel could actually be a great way to enjoy, stay connected and relieve anxiety during this potentially stressful time. That is why today I will give you some tips to have a meeting as safe as possible. Enjoy peace of mind and protecting your health.

Choose a Love Hotel that cares about your health

First of all, you must make sure that the hotel and its employees take the pandemic seriously; Check in our guide what measures the Love Hotels are taking to protect users and, if you do not feel safe, or do not have a certificate, better delete them from your list and do not risk your health or that of your companion. You may also be interested in cuckold dating cuckolddatingsites.org

Prepare your meeting with all possible prevention measures

Needless to say, but I'll repeat it just in case: wash your hands well for at least 20 seconds, with soap and water. Before and after doing ANYTHING.

Consider wearing a mask in the lobby or other common areas; climb stairs instead of elevators with strangers and minimize the time in areas where there could be more people This includes restaurants, bars, or seating areas.

Sexuality can have as many variations and alternatives as the imagination can conceive. Instead of kissing and having sex, try erotic massages, mutual masturbation, or watching or reading erotic productions. In short, whatever you can think of to enjoy without compromising health. One suggestion made by Healthline health magazine is that cunnilingus should be out of the question of sexual practices these days.

Remember that leaving the home can be safe, as long as you are aware not to touch high-contact surfaces and make sure to clean them, or check that the hotel carries out certified hygiene protocols, such as those guaranteed by the Safe Place 2 seal. F * CK.
